Things to Do in Florida During the Winter

Florida Winter Destinations

Southwest Florida may be best known for its summer activities including enjoying its many beaches, but there are also plenty of enjoyable activities that can be done during winter as well. Check out some suggestions for some great winter activities in Southwest Florida.

Manatee Viewing

These magnificent creatures enjoy the warm coastlines of Florida during the winter. They can be observed in their natural habitats in several cities including Fort Myers, Three Sisters Springs at the Crystal River, and Orange City.

Tour the Citrus Groves

Citrus orchards are in season from fall to spring, so winter is a great time to visit them and take a tour. You can even bring home some fresh Florida oranges to enjoy during the holiday season.

Watch the Boat Parades

In nearly every Florida city you can find a holiday boat parade during the winter. These parades often feature holiday decorations and blinking lights and can be found in Boca Raton, Key West, Pensacola, and more.

Florida Amusement Parks

Florida is known for its amusement parks including Disney World, SeaWorld, LEGOLAND, Universal Studios, and more. While some of these may not technically be in Southwest Florida, they are still worth the trip. The parks may not be as busy during the winter as they are during the summertime.

Take a Tour of the Everglades

There is plenty to see and do in Florida all year long. Take a tour of the Everglades National Park including an airboat tour. There are also plenty of day cruises you can go on including going dolphin watching.
